Story: Bill and Don go to downtown London on The Tube from Epping.
Each station has a different personality...as we head south from Epping and each group that get on the train are from a grand variety of cultures, ethnicities, it’s like a movie of gradual cosmopolitan folks coming on board, each on a different mission. Theydon Bois pictured here at the Station is rural and white, Leyton adds more color, as does Stratford, and then even more Black and Asian folks come aboard at Liverpool, Bank, St. Paul’s, Tottenham and finally Oxford Circus. Downtown! The inspiration for the song has elements that speak to each of these ethnicities and languages and you’ll hear the variation as the train pulls into the stations and finally leaving Oxford Circus for Bond street as it fades into the next station down the tracks. A lovely and rhythmic journey in 7/8.
